What is waste? What are the types of waste?
Waste (or wastes) is materials that are undesired or unusable. Any substance thrown after its primary purpose or is worthless, faulty, or useless is considered waste. Several ways in the world cause waste; some of them are differentiated as organic and non-organic waste.
- Waste, also called biodegradable waste, is Natural garbage, such as that produced by plants or animals. Biodegradable plastics, food waste, green trash, paper waste, manure, human waste, sewage, and abattoir waste are just a few examples.
- Non-biodegradable waste is those which do not have organic components in this product. Microorganisms have a difficult time decomposing this trash. Inorganic waste includes things like glass, aluminium cans, dust, and metal. This inorganic substance becomes the main reason for several types of pollution, including land, water. To terminate the cause of pollution, we should properly regulate the waste produced in several places.
Why we should effectively regulate trash produced in industrial areas and families is a topic that usually occurs in minds of people
The importance of waste regulation can be seen in several ways:
- It prevents the release of hazardous gases into the atmosphere, it prevents the cause of global warming, some non-biodegradable waste products can be recycled and reused, and it aids in the reduction of soil pollution and water pollution.
- Waste management is also important for maintaining the hygiene of one’s surroundings. If a person does not maintain adequate hygiene, he or she is more likely to contract a variety of deadly diseases. Therefore, the regulation of the waste can only be done by “Waste Management”.
- Multiple parties are involved in garbage management, which includes transportation, processing, and sorting. Everyone who works with garbage has a legal obligation to dispose of it securely and by rules. Simply said, you must manage your garbage if you produce it. When waste is properly segregated then it is quite easier to recycle.
- Effective waste segregation reduces the amount of waste sent to landfill, making it less expensive and better for people and the environment. However, for public health reasons, segregation is also necessary. Hazardous wastes, in particular, can have long-term health consequences. Therefore proper disposal is critical.
- There is money to be earned in the garbage disposal industry, and as we get more efficient in our waste management, a growing number of employment opportunities, ranging from entry-level to highly skilled technical roles, are being generated.
- As a result of good waste management, the cost of materials will certainly fall. In addition, many materials utilized in various goods, particularly in the building industry in the form of recovered aggregates, can be simply reused. These steps contribute to the development of a co-dependent economy, which means lower pricing for everyone.
Collection of Waste
Now, as we have discussed the importance of waste management now, we must talk about collecting waste from different areas. One of the common methods is the use of plastic dustbin. Based on types, there are three types of plastic dustbins used; they are:
- Household bins mostly contain household waste like vegetables, kitchen waste and a few non-biodegradable wastes generated in the normal household.

- The last one is a commercial dustbin used in commercial areas like shops, malls, factories, etc.
They are also differentiated based on the colour green is for biodegradable waste, blue for non-biodegradable waste and yellow for glass and paper waste. So they play a massive role in waste management via efficient waste segregation. That is why plastic dustbin manufacturing is done on a large scale. They are made of reused plastic and help in collecting and recycling more waste in useful materials.
