Express entry

Immigrating to Canada continues to be a top goal for many people around the world. This is no surprise, considering that Canada has consistently been ranked as one of the best countries to live in, with a booming economy and an excellent quality of life. Hence getting a Canadian work visa could be a positive turning point in your life. And despite COVID-19 travel restrictions, Canada still welcomes over 300,000 new permanent residents every year under various immigration programs.

Express Entry is Canada’s fastest and most popular immigration program. Launched in 2015, the Express Entry system manages applications for three of Canada’s main economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and Canadian Experience Class (CEC). The Canadian government has set a target to welcome nearly 80,000 new permanent residents through its Express Entry system in 2021.

Provincial Nominee Program

If you want to become a permanent resident of Canada, getting a nomination from the province where you want to live is a good way to do it. Each province manages its own Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) that allows them to nominate candidates for immigration who are considered desirable to its province. If you get nominated by your chosen province, the federal government will give you extra points when evaluating your application. There are different ways to apply for a Canada work visa with PNP, depending on which province you choose and what your profession is. In some provinces, you can apply before going to Canada; in others, you need to be an employee or student there first.

The most common route is called Express Entry PNP. This means that the province has chosen to use Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada’s Express Entry system for choosing immigrants for their PNP streams and nominating them for immigration. You begin by creating an Express Entry profile, which includes information about your age, work experience, language skills, and education level. IRCC evaluates your profile based on a points system called the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). After one year, IRCC removes all of the old profiles and only considers new ones.

Business Immigration

The federal government offers immigration programs for individuals that plan to be self-employed in Canada or start up a business in Canada. They also offer immigration programs for students, family members of Canadian citizens, and permanent residents and refugees.

Sponsorship

The country offers several immigration programs that give permanent residents and citizens the chance to bring their family members to the country. Permanent residents can sponsor their spouse or common-law partner, their dependent children, parents, or grandparents for permanent residence in Canada through the Family Class Sponsorship program. Citizens can also sponsor family members under this program.
