Your Top 5 Things to Do in Boston Guide

Boston, the capital of Massachusetts and one of the oldest cities in the United States, offers an incredible array of things to do, see, and eat. Whether you’re planning a weekend getaway with friends or are looking to pack in as much sightseeing as possible while you’re on business, it’s helpful to know what your options are before you even arrive at Logan Airport. The following five suggestions offer the best way to spend your time in Boston based on your interests, whether you want to take in iconic landmarks or sample some of New England’s tastiest restaurants and drinks along the way.

1) Don’t Miss the New England Aquarium

The New England Aquarium is great for families and kids of all ages. It’s a beautiful place with hundreds of aquatic animals, many of which are native to New England. There are even beluga whales! Don’t worry if you’re not into fish or creepy-crawlies; there are also several IMAX movies available (with ticket purchase) and great food options. If you want to book cheap flight tickets to Boston, book with Spirit Airlines Customer services here avail instant airlines reservation booking at a discounted rate.

2) Go on a Tour at Harvard University

Harvard University is an Ivy League institution located just outside of downtown Boston. There are numerous buildings on campus that are open to the public, including museums and research centers like Harvard’s Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology or Harvard Art Museums. The university has dozens of schools, so there’s a little something for everyone no matter your interest—whether you’re a science nerd or an arts lover. Before you go, check out Harvard’s page on visiting tours. This is a great way to learn about some history as well as some of their most interesting students who have made names for themselves after graduating from one of America’s oldest universities. The Kennedy School offers free lectures too!

3) Grab a Guided Walking Tour Through Beacon Hill

Beacon Hill is one of our favorite parts of Boston, so we like to do a walking tour through it at least once during every visit. There are tons of different companies that offer Beacon Hill tours (and other neighborhood walks), but one of our favorites is simply named Boston’s Best Walking Tours — their guides are funny and personable, and they provide an excellent opportunity for getting some context on each neighborhood you visit. Booking a tour on your first day also means you’ll have something interesting to do right away when you get there! If you have time, consider booking another walk later in your trip — we particularly enjoyed Charlestown, which was fun because we didn’t know much about that area beforehand.

4) Take an Evening Cruise on the Charles River

The Charles River is a 10-mile long body of water that runs from Watertown through Cambridge, passes underneath several bridges, and empties into Boston Harbor. On any given night, you can catch a tour boat that gives you a chance to relax and enjoy both city and starry views as you pass under famous bridges like Harvard Bridge, BU Bridge, Longfellow Bridge, Craigie Bridge and Anderson Memorial Bridge. Or if night time isn’t your thing, visit during daytime hours to play some golf or take an impromptu jog by strolling along one of its many trails. You’ll also see plenty of great sites along both sides of it including some marinas. And if you want to  cancel your flight and change your mind you will get a refund with a spirit refund policy.

5) Bask In Natural Beauty at Franklin Park

With nearly 2,200 acres of green space, Franklin Park is perfect for an afternoon picnic or a run. You’ll also find tennis courts, a golf course and swimming pools at Franklin Park. Want to kick it up a notch? Spend an evening kayaking around Jamaica Pond and then grab some dinner at one of its restaurants. A great way to feel more connected with nature is to go on any number of trail hikes that are scattered throughout the area. When you’re ready for a break from city life, do what many locals do: Take an easy jaunt into The Blue Hills Reservation or hop on public transportation and head into another state entirely!
